BADLANDS50 2015 "Here We GO"

So it begins a new year and a new race. Feel free to scroll down below to see info from last years event. I will be posting updates here as well as pictures and videos. We are very excited to be hosting our second Ultra on April 25, 2015 in Desoto National Forest. This as far as I know is the most inexpensive Ultra outside of FREE and self supported. You pay $1 per mile. If you choose the Badlands 50 Mile you pay $50. If you choose the 50K you pay $31.68. Your price of admission will include a BADLANDS50 Race singlet and snacks and drinks along the course. However with limited entry price we run a very low key little frill race. You can expect some great freebies from Hammer Gel and trail Toes our race sponsors but little else. We hope you can join us this year in our event. Please spread the word so that we can build the race. I will be updating the blog with online race registration very soon. You can also find info on our website www.northshorerunningclub.com or our FB page. Till Paths Meet NSRC

FINAL NOTE for BADLANDS50 2014

Well we are a week past the first ever BADLANDS50. I just wanted to say Thank You for joinging us this year. Thanks to our great small group Volunteers. We managed a wide area with just a few close friends and family. Without them we could not have taken care of you. Thanks to Hammer Nutrition and Trail Toes for supplying the aid stations and the goodie bags. I hope you continue to support these people. Here are the times from the event. Follow the link to see your time. I did not indicate who was in the 50 Mile vs the 50k. So the place value is not accurate. But your official time is. Please add April Handy with a time of 5:26. She was also the overall winner of the 50k followed by Michael Yarbrough (2nd) and Cailtlin Vaughn (3rd). For the 50 miler we had Ed Melancon (1st), Sam Landry (2nd), Casey Urschel (3rd) Overall with great performances by Emily Fowler and close behind Debra McKenzie. http://racesplitter.com/races/0D19DC3A2 I have posted pictures on our FaceBook Page. I am linking the video I put together on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YauqIUrl-Kc&list=UUvrV4-PYOs3WrwS5Oea-XKA Last item to discuss is next years race. Please email me or call with suggestions of things we can fix or do better to support your effort. Next years race will be APRIL 11, 2015. MARK YOU CALANDER and invite your friends. BADLANDS50 FINAL UPDATE

Final Race Update We are less than a week away from the 1st ever BADLANDS50 Ultra. I want to say thank you for signing up. I also want to let everyone know that we are a small club with little frills in the way of your average organized race. My biggest fear is not meeting your expectations. We have a great course and will do all we can to support you in your effort to finish BADLANDS. I think the trails will speak for themselves. The weather looks good with high temps in the low 80’s. It has been fairly dry for over a week now so I don’t expect much if any wet areas that you can’t run around or jump over. Expect roots, sand, trees and Nature at its best.
