GoPro Video between Mile 1 and 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr2kFpTgpGQ

Click the link above to see my scouting day at Badlands to work on course details. Yes I'm on a Mountain Bike but I did run the loop after riding it :) Here are my first 2 GoPro pictures of Badlands. Its going to be sweet. Even with heavy rains the day before the trail was fairly dry. The river was higher than I've ever seen it.

Race Info

        Badlands50

   April 26,2014

Desoto National Forest

Bethel Trails are a network of trails (Pine Lizard, South Pine Lizard, Badlands, Couch Trail,
Turtle Back Trail, Briar Patch, and South Bethel) which used to be Motorcycle trails. The trails are in the Desoto National Forest. They are primarily single track with the occasional fire and jeep trail. The trails are flat with only slight changes in elevation. The trails range from tight turns in the trees to scenic stretches along the creeks. Be prepared for a variety of soils ranging from sand to hard packed dirt.

Bethal Trail Head is where NorthShore Running Club (www.northshorerunningclub.com) will hold the first ever Badlands50. We will offer a 50k race and a 50 mile race. All racers will receive an “I ran the Badlands50 for the Shirt” T-shirt. Finishers of the 50 Mile will receive a Badland50 Medallion.

The race will consist of two and a half laps for the 50k and 4 complete laps for the 50 Mile. Hammer Nutrition (http://www.hammernutrition.com/) will be supplying goodie bags and supplements for the re-fuel stations. We will provide two tables for refueling. One will be at the trail head/start of every lap and one around half way on the 12.5 mile loop.

All runners will be required to check in and out of both re-fueling stations to help us keep up with runners on the course. Cell phone use is limited and we will be checking on racers as we ride in the opposite direction by mountain bike. All racers are required to carry a whistle in case of emergency.

We are very excited about the race and hope we can provide you with a great running experience.
